    An Easter message from Janice

    My Dear Friends

Our celebration of Jesus triumphant entry into Jerusalem last Sunday was wonderful, with the children leading us waving their palms and parading around Church making a joyful noise, we are so very blessed.

We then journeyed with Jesus as He made His way to the cross.   Jesus knew what was before Him and had tried to prepare His Disciples, he told them, “the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and teachers of the law.   They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him.   Three days later he will rise.” (Mark 10: 33 – 34).

Shouts of “Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” on Palm Sunday became “crucify, crucify” on the Friday.   The Disciples were dismayed and afraid as their Lord was arrested, interrogated, put on trial before Pilate, condemned to death and crucified.   Peter denied that he knew Jesus and at the cross none of the Disciples were to be seen, they had fled, such was their fear for their own lives.

If Easter ended at the cross, there would be no victory, we would be left wondering, and questioning.   The crucifixion was an event that happened within the constraints of time and space, it had a beginning and an end.   Everything hinges on the resurrection.   The resurrection vindicated Christ as God’s Son and our Saviour and established His Kingdom which will never end.

If the grave could not hold Christ is cannot hold us, we share in His victory, Christ is risen and we too will rise, “the world and its desires will pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever” (1 John 2: 17).

No matter what life throws at us God’s promises never fail, nothing, not even death can separate us from His love.  Jesus is the bridge between time and eternity, we have nothing to fear, He will carry us over that threshold, He has gone on to prepare a place for us, this is the joyful message of Easter morning.

     Christ is risen, Halleluiah!

    Much love,

    Janice
